Every entity in our supply chain is certified organic and receives regular audits, from the beekeepers keeping bees and harvesting honeycomb to organic standards through to the refiner, The East Africa Wax Company and British Wax, who have held organic certification since 2009.

From a fully traceable supply chain via our sister company based in Kenya.    EAWC delivers the very best quality sustainably-sourced beeswax, which supports communities and the environment in which they live, enables them to thrive and means our customers can create truly natural ethical products supported by supply transparency right from the hive to the product you make.

The East Africa Wax Company was founded in 2018 as a joint venture of British Wax and Bee-Care Apiaries International with the aim of leveraging demand for the highest quality premium beeswax to improve the lives and natural environment of the beekeeping community in Tanzania and Kenya.  There are now well over 100,000 hives kept by over 3,000 individual beekeepers registered in The East Africa Wax Company’s supply chain.  Those that are prepared to work with Ecocert’s organic standards are paid an additional premium on top of the premium for their already high quality wax.

As well as paying a premium for the product, The East Africa Wax Company has started a number of initiatives including promoting female beekeeping using Top Bar hives, providing training on hive management to improve bee welfare, introducing a tree planting scheme and providing beekeepers with access to Health & Safety equipment.

Organic Candelilla 6013 is 100% certified organic to Cosmos Standard and ideal for organic personal care formulations.

Produced by our Mexican partner , this Candelilla Wax has been extracted using citric acid instead of sulfuric acid commonly used in most of the industry and processed according to Cosmos Organic standards.

Candelilla wax is derived from the leaves of the candelilla plant (Euphorbia antisyphilitica or Euphorbia cerifera), which is native to the Chihuahuan desert of Northern Mexico.

The Candelilla plant is cut or pulled out by the root, bundled up and taken to a collection centre where they are boiled up large vats of dilute citric acid.  The wax is separated and once cool, the crude candelilla wax is taken to the refinery to be melted, refined and bleached using only process aids that are compliant with the organic regulations.

All Candelilla wax is subject to CITES regulations due to previous over-harvesting.  Nowadays, with the right controls in place and a truly sustainable supply chain, Organic Candelilla Wax 6013 provides peace of mind for customers who want only the most ethically sourced Candelilla Wax.

Organic Candelilla Wax 6013 is naturally yellow in colour and brittle, making it a popular choice for organic coatings and glazes.  It also has excellent oil binding properties, meaning that it is an essential component of most organic lipstick formulations.

Also available non-organic Refined Candelilla Wax

Organic Coconut Oil can be used in the production of organic massage candles, massage lotions, lip balms, body butters and soaps. This product is a super absorbing, hydrating emollient oil which melts into your skin.

White to off-white in colour, this high quality coconut oil acts like a butter-type ingredient (i.e. soft/solid at room temperature) in its natural form.

The coconut oil is pressed from the dried kernel flesh of the coconut and is then filtered & lightly refined. The crude coconut oil is then deodorised to remove the aroma, making it ideal for users who want the coconut functionality without the aroma affecting the formulation.
